Introduction
You have 250 reviews. Your competitor has 90. Your ratings
are similar, your website looks professional, and you have been serving
customers for years. Yet when potential customers ask modern search tools for a
recommendation, your competitor sometimes appears ahead of you. It can feel
unfair, especially when the numbers seem to clearly favor your business.
The problem may not be the number of reviews. It may be what those reviews actually say. Search systems increasingly look at the context surrounding a business, including the services customers mention, locations served, problems solved, and experiences described in their feedback. A smaller collection of highly specific reviews can sometimes provide stronger signals than a much larger collection of vague comments.
